When someone searches for your service nearby, Google shows your star rating and review count right next to your name, before they’ve seen your website. A business with 4.8 stars from 300 reviews looks like the safe choice, and one with 3.9 stars from 25 looks like a gamble, even if the work is just as good.

Google review management is the steady work of earning more genuine reviews on your Google Business Profile, replying to every one of them well and dealing with the reviews that break Google’s rules. It’s often the fastest way to win more calls from the map, because reviews influence both where you rank and whether people choose you.

What our Google review management services include

The service covers everything that happens to reviews on your Google Business Profile, formerly known as Google My Business:

  • Your review link, everywhere it helps. The short link that opens your Google review form, added to texts, emails, receipts and invoices.
  • Requests after every job. An automated message sent at the right moment, so reviews keep coming even in busy weeks.
  • Replies to every review. Short, specific thanks for positive reviews and calm, helpful replies to negative ones, written in your voice.
  • Removal requests. Reviews that break Google’s policies, such as spam, fake accounts or conflicts of interest, flagged through the proper process.
  • Monitoring and reporting. New reviews caught within hours, and a monthly report comparing your rating and volume with the businesses you compete with.

Google publishes its own tips to get more reviews, and every request we send follows them.

Why Google reviews matter more than any other site

For most local businesses, Google is where customers first see your reputation. The star rating appears in the map pack, in regular search results and on Google Maps, often before anyone visits your website or other review sites.

Reviews also feed what Google calls prominence, one of the three factors it uses to rank local businesses alongside relevance and distance. More reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking, and recent, detailed reviews help most.

That’s why Google review management sits at the center of most of our reputation management plans.

The rules for asking

Google allows and encourages businesses to ask for reviews, but it sets clear limits. You can’t offer anything in return, such as a discount, gift card or prize draw.

You can’t ask only the customers you expect to be happy, a practice called review gating. And you can’t write reviews for yourself or ask staff, friends or family to do it.

The FTC’s 2024 rule on fake reviews adds legal weight to those limits. Breaking them can get reviews removed, a profile restricted or worse, so every request we send goes to every customer, with no strings attached.

Replying to Google reviews well

Replies are public, and future customers read them closely. A thoughtful reply to a negative review often reassures people more than another five-star rating.

Google’s guide to managing customer reviews recommends keeping replies short, friendly and relevant. We follow a simple shape: thank the reviewer, address the point they made and, for complaints, offer a way to sort it out offline.

Replies in regulated fields need extra care. Healthcare practices must never confirm someone is a patient, and law firms must protect client confidentiality. We write replies that stay inside those limits.

Removing reviews that break the rules

Google removes reviews that violate its policies, including spam, fake engagement, off-topic content, harassment and conflicts of interest such as reviews from competitors or former employees. Genuine negative reviews, however unfair they feel, usually stay.

We flag violating reviews with a clear explanation of which policy they break, track the outcome and follow up when a first request is declined. For reviews that stay, the reply becomes your best tool.

Google review management: Texas businesses on the map

In crowded Texas markets like Dallas, Houston and Austin, the businesses in the map pack often have hundreds of reviews. Closing that gap takes months of steady requests, and it’s the most reliable way to move up.

In smaller Texas towns, a business with a few dozen recent reviews can lead the whole county. Either way, the plan is the same: ask every customer, reply to every review and keep going.

Choosing a Google review management company

Ask any Google review management company whether they ask every customer or only happy ones, whether they offer incentives and whether they can “remove bad reviews”. The right answers are every customer, never, and only through Google’s own process when a review breaks the rules.

Also ask who owns your Google Business Profile. It should be in your name, with the provider as a manager you can remove at any time.

Cost, timing and results

What does Google review management cost?

It starts at $100 a month on its own, and it’s included in the full plan from $399 a month alongside every other service. Plans are month-to-month.

How soon will we get more reviews?

Usually within days of switching on requests. A rating and review count that stand out against competitors take a few months of steady requests to build.

Will more Google reviews bring in more customers?

Reviews help you rank in the map pack and help searchers choose you once they find you. We track calls and direction requests from your profile alongside review growth. Clients rate us 4.8 out of 5 across 148 Google reviews.

Frequently asked questions about Google review management

Can you remove a bad Google review?

Only if it breaks Google’s policies, and only by flagging it through Google’s process. Genuine negative reviews stay, so a calm, helpful reply is the best response.

Is it allowed to ask customers for Google reviews?

Yes. Google encourages it, as long as you ask every customer, offer nothing in return and never write or buy reviews.

How should I reply to a fake Google review?

Flag it through Google’s reporting tools, then reply briefly and factually without accusing anyone. Future customers will see a calm business, not an argument.

Do Google review replies help rankings?

Replies mainly help customers decide, by showing an active, responsive business. Review volume, recency and rating have a bigger effect on rankings.

What’s the difference between GMB and GBP?

Google My Business was renamed Google Business Profile. It’s the same listing, and the same review rules apply.
